The Hantangang River Global Geopark Center has everything about Hantangang River!

The Hantangang River Global Geopark Center showcases the overall area of Hantangang River, ranging from the land inhabited by humans, i.e., the geology that created today’s Hantangang River, to archeology, history, culture, ecology, and stories of today’s inhabitants.

Hantangang Hantangang River boasts of a variety of geological characteristics and splendid landscape created by columnar joints, gorge, cave of fluvial erosion, waterfalls, and others, formed through the interaction between the lava and the river based on rocks and geological features that existed before the lava flows a long time ago. Along with these geological characteristics, Hantangang River has been the background of different stories, from stories of the early human race on the Korean Peninsula during the Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages to numerous battle stories of the Three Kingdoms Period, and stories of arts and romance of the Joseon Dynasty. In addition, thanks to the current well-preserved natural environment, the river has become home to a number of animals and plants as well as its inhabitants living in harmony with nature.

Along with the exhibition hall, there is a Digital Media Hall and 4D Riding Theater where you can see the Hantangang River vividly, and there is a Geology&Ecology Experience Center where you can easily access the Hantangang River from a child's eye level. In addition, it operates various experience programs about the Hantangang River and earth science, so children, families, and group students can see, feel, and learn the Hantangang River in an easier and more fun way.
